Our Programs

Infants – 6 Weeks to 12 Months

At birth and even earlier, infants are already developing and learning. They are actively involved with themselves and the world around them.

Our curriculum for infants is based on consistent routines and interactions through caregivers focusing on the four developmental domains (physical, emotional, social, and cognitive/language) and attending to their needs in a safe and secure environment. For that reason, in the infant room, the ratio is 8 children to 3 teachers. We believe that at this stage, babies must have their first needs promptly attended to in order to thrive and develop a trusting bond with our team.

Birth - 3 years is the most crucial phase in laying a strong foundation for cognitive development. We individualize a curriculum for infants to ensure that planned activities and experiences appropriately support the unfolding development of each child at his or her unique pace. All of our programs align with Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards.

Our Program Highlights:

  • Personalized schedule and care plan for each baby in order to offer individualized care
  • Well-trained staffing to ensure children have all needs are promptly attended to
  • Daily activities such as; story time, music, and tummy time, as well as sensory experiences and outdoor exploration
  • Assistance in introducing solid food
  • Encouraging and tracking skills and milestones
  • In addition to all this, we offer music classes for babies

Daily Schedule

At this early stage of life, there is no set schedule in place. Our teachers will adapt to the daily routine of each of our babies, and together with their families, and we will navigate a schedule that is best for your child. All children in our infant room have what they need when they need it.

Feedings

At APLH, we support all feeding styles. We are happy to accommodate breastmilk and formula. Our staff has vast knowledge about all options, and it is our primordial goal to make sure we are offering fresh bottles and handling the supply well. Once the infant reaches the milestone of starting solids, our team will work with you to help you introduce solids.

Toddlers - 12 Months to 36 Months

To properly nurture Toddlers' imagination and curiosity, they need opportunities to develop and express themselves. More importantly, they also rely on adults to help those master important milestones and assist them through a social-emotional phase.

Our staff is prepared to guide children through this magical period of life. With blocks, flannel boards, discovery centers, dramatic play, sensory tables, hands-on experiences, and much more, we play and learn together in a stimulating and loving environment. APLH offers 3 different toddler programs that range from 12-36 months; each program has an engaging curriculum that encourages toddlers to learn, develop, and boost self-confidence and independence while helping them navigate all their big feelings.

Driven by the interests of our students, our classrooms are designed in a way to support all curiosity and allows room for toddlers to explore using different centers and learning-through-play opportunities. All of our programs align with Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards, providing classroom structure and everyday routines that help with the transition to our Pre-k Program and beyond.

Preschoolers – 3 to 4 Years

Children at this age are learning many new skills expanding and demonstrating their cognitive abilities. Preschool age is a time for rapidly growing independence. At APLH, preschool is an engaging and motivating experience full of discovery and exploration, along with a strong sense of community and the rewarding feeling associated with having a strong village behind you, rooting for you every step of the way.

Our students experience a strong curriculum with hands-on activities, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Mastering new concepts like, self-care and other life skills to prepare them for Kindergarten!

At APLH, we have 2 Preschool Programs;
Pre-K 1 - in our younger pre-k, children are immersed in an environment where they learn that they all have an important role in our classroom and community; They also learn that within this role comes the initial concepts of responsibility, respect for others, and most of all, fostering a sense of belonging to a community and what it means to be an active member their society. Children at this stage are also developing and practicing concepts of letters, numbers, and colors.

Pre-K 2 - Our older Pre-k program focuses on the skills they learned along their journey through each of our classes. Being that this is the last stop before Kindergarten, our goal is to make sure everyone is emotionally, socially, and academically prepared for what's ahead. By incorporating science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM learning), reading comprehension, emergent literacy, alphabetic fluency, and word patterns through conceptual learning, we strive for excellence!

All of our programs align with Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards.

Our Program Highlights:

  • Curriculum that supports literacy, math, science, arts, dramatic play, fine motor skills, and outdoor experiences
  • Health and Safety practices
  • Confidence and independence building - life learning skills
